For me it would have to be theSpring Rainbow bouquet – a beautiful and vibrant mix of yellow roses, orange and red tulips and blue iris. I got engaged in Amsterdam (obvious tulip link!)… and then married in April so we had tulips in my bouquet and as a theme for the wedding flowers. If ever I am lucky enough to be bought flowers, you can usually bet there is a tulip there somewhere!

Spring_rainbow

So, you can imagine how thriilled I was when a familiar box landed on my doorstep…

Dscf2256

…containing the most beautiful bunch of flowers (with tulips!). Made up from 8 Blue Iris’, 5 Orange and 5 Red tulips and 2 sprays of Yellow Roses, the Spring Rainbow bouquet is hand tied and comes in vibrant purple film:

Including delivery, the bouquet is priced at £29.99. It doesn’t come with the vase as standard, but it can be added as an extra for just £4.99. As usual, the flowers arrived exactly when expected and in perfect condition… the cleverly designed box means that the flowers arrive upright and held in place, with a special pack wrapped around the stems offering them moisture on their journey and ensuring they arrive in tip top shape!

The flowers also come with a sachet of flower food… so they were put straight in a vase with the food and onto my fireplace. On arrival the tulips and iris were still unopened while the delicate yellow roses were beginning to spread…

Day 2:

On the second day the flowers had settled beautifully in the vase and were beginning to spread their petals and open. One or two of the red tulips were beginning to reveal their dark black centres (the filament and anthers if I am being technical!) and the iris were sharing their vibrant blue colour. The roses were also relaxing and filling out. I was pleased that the tulips had kept their heads up too… as sometimes tulips can droop! Not these though… they were as proud as ever!

Day 4:

The flowers in the Spring Rainbow bouquet are now almost fully open and in FULL glory… they are absolutely stunning and still as vibrant as the day they arrived. Most of the red tulips have revealed their black centres whilst the orange tulips are still a little tigher and haven’t quite revealed what is inside. The iris have spread and filled out and the roses are starting to grow too, relaxing their petals. The scent is delicate… but fresh!

Day 6:

The red tulips are just beginning to turn and droop just a little, whilst the orange tulips are still not fully open… they are still being shy and not showing their centres! The iris are now fully spread and in full bloom, whilst the roses are in different stages, some more developed than others. For me this is a huge plus as, while the red tulips may be past their best in a few more days, the other flowers will last on… so the bouquet will just change! I think the flowers will last at least 10 days… probably even longer!

As part of their Valentine’s Day campaign, Arena Flowers have also created some FABULOUS videos which are fresh, modern and pretty cool if you ask me! My particular favourite has to be Kung Fu Flowers.

Spread a little ‘Christmas Love’ with the help of Arena Flowers! (And a little something for you too!)

Arena

Following the review last month of the stunning ‘Lavender Blue’ bouquet fromArena Flowers, I was thrilled to be offered another opportunity to review for them with an exclusive opportunity for my blog readers too (which is detailed below!). This time it was to be something from the ‘Winter Flowers’ collection and with me LOVING Christmas, I couldn’t wait to see what would be arriving this time!

Christmas_love

Christmas Love is a winter bouquet with the true scent of Christmas. The wonderful white amaryllis lilies open from modest beginnings to their full amazing glory and are perfectly complemented by the small red Peruvian lilies, shiny red hypericum berries and the bright red Dutch roses.  The final touch of bundles of cinnamon sticks gives that essential festive aroma and the bouquet is completed by the glossy black tie leaves which encircle the flowers.

Dscf1202

This hand made arrangement contains 2 White Amaryllis, 3 Red Hypericum, 5 Red Peruvian Lillies, 3 Dutch Red Roses, 3 Cinnamon Stick Clusters and is edges with 3 Black Ties. The vase isn’t included but can be added as an optional extra.

The flowers again arrived on time and on schedule as arranged – something which is reassuring to know when you are sending flowers for a special occasion.

Dscf1193

The sturdy flower box had kept the flowers safe and secure, and had again protected them well meaning they arrived in perfect condition. The box was absolutley bursting with flowers and brimming with the spirit of Christmas – and scent of it too! The beautiful aroma of fresh flowers with the hint of cinnamon came flooding out as the box lid was lifted!

Dscf1194

The flowers themselves were perfect… bright Christmassy reds, cool winter whites and leafy warm greens all edged with stunning black leaves, giving a really modern edge to the bouquet.

Dscf1196

And the berries add another dimension to the flowers too – bright, glossy, little red bursts of colour interspersed throughout the bigger blooms. 2 days in and the flowers have pride of place on my fireplace… if only they would still be here for Christmas ( but LOTS of hints have been dropped!).

Dscf1197

My verdict:

I can not say I am anything but thoroughly impressed with the service from Arena Flowers once again and the Christmas Love bouquet is absolutely stunning!  The bouquet was once again well packaged and handled with care. The flowers are stunning – warm, fragrant and high quality with the spirit of Christmas burtsing from the seams.

Value for money? With a price tag of just £44.99, I think they most certainly are. Getting flowers delivered is not cheap – and the money spent on this bouquet would be well worth it!

So what is the EXCLUSIVE opportunity for you?

In the true spirit of giving at Christmas time… here is a little something for you! Arena Flowers have given whatmeandtheboyssay an EXCLUSIVE promotion code which will get you 10% any flowers ordered through their websitebefore December 31st (and it can be used multiple times!). Lavender’s Blue… at least it is with Arena Flowers!

At whatmeandtheboyssay we are always looking for new and different products to review and we were thrilled when Arena Flowers approached us to review a bouquet for them.

New-logo-uk

‘Arena Flowers – one of the leading online florist in the UK, offering the highest quality flowers from around the world at excellent prices.  All of Arena Flowers bouquets and flowers arrangements are not only beautiful and fresh, but also affordable and great value – as flowers should be.’

Lavender_blue

Speaking to Arena Flowers was hassle free. My contact was friendly and full of information – and the flowers arrived safely on the day arranged… a really good start for me! I was sent the Lavender Blue Bouquet. The Lavender Blue retails for £46.00 with the option of adding a vase for £4.99 or making it deluxe (with extra flowers) for an additional £7.00.

Day 1:

Dscf0781

The flowers arrived in a VERY sturdy flower box which competely protected all of the flowers. The flowers were stood upright, held in place be a special holder at the bottom of the box…

Dscf0808

The cut stems were wrapped at the bottom in a ‘nappy bag’, which keeps the flowers moist during transit so that they arrive ‘as fresh as a daisy!’

Dscf0792
Dscf0807

There was also a sachet of flower food included!

Dscf0791

The bouquet itself was wrapped in purple plastic wrap – and looked stunning! The Lavender Blue consisted of 1 lavender bunch, 10 purple freesias and 10 white roses. The result… well, I wish I had smell-o-vision to share the beautiful scent with you! On opening the box, the lavender’s fragrence immedately filled the air – and then the sweetnes of the freesias added to the depth…. absolutely beautiful!

Dscf0787
Dscf0786
Dscf0795
Dscf0800
Dscf0802

So I found a vase, removed the plastic wrapping, mixed the flower food with water, trimmed the flower stems and put the flowers on my fireplace! Thankfully there was no need to arrange the flowers as they were helpfully hand tied – a real bonus!

I was now interested to know how long the flowers would last… and how long the fragrance would fill my front room for!

Day 2:

The freesias are beginning to open and have a beautiful blue/purple colour. The rose petals are relaxing and opening gently – but the scent is still absolutely amazing! I have had to change the water though as it has turned a yellow colour.

Dscf0885
Dscf0886

Day 4:

The flowers are still fragrant and stunning. The freesias have really opened out now and the roses have spread out – they are still pure white with no signs of age. The lavender is the main scent and is deepening in colour.

Dscf0936

Day 6:

The first rose petal is beginning to turn colour – but that is the only sign of age. The flowers are now fully open but still wonderfully fragrant: the freesias have lost some of their fragrance, leaving the lavender to come into its own – but it is not an ‘old’ lavender smell – it is fresh and full bodied. I am now certain that the flowers will last the week, if not at least 10 days, before any real deterioration.

Dscf0937

My verdict:

I can not say I am anything but thoroughly impressed with the Lavender Blue Bouquet from Arena Flowers. The company has been proffessional to deal with – with friendly service. The delivery was reliable, fast and friendly (and free!). The bouquet was well packaged and handled with care. The flowers are beautiful – classic, fragrant, well-presented and of a very high quality. They have now lasted 8 days without any real signs of deterioration – and they remain almost as beautiful as the day they were delivered!

Value for money? Yes, I think they are. Getting flowers delivered is not cheap – and the money spent on this bouquet is well worth it!
