Grizzly Tales for Gruesome Kids Nuclear Wart – Review and Giveaway!

Grizzly Tales for Gruesome KidsThe boys were really excited when our latest DVD arrived for review – and I think it was the title that drew them in straight away! Grizzly Tales for Gruesome Kids: Nuclear Wart is a DVD containing over two hours of guresomeness for children to enjoy, with 11 wickedly funny episodes. The  multi-award winning Grizzly Tales series is based on the hit books by Jamie Rix – and they are narrated by Nigel Planer!

Released by Abbey Home Media on October 7th, this DVD is available just in time for Halloween – with its Gruesome theme being perfect to watch at this time of year! Although they are animated episodes, and each does have a message behind it, they are quite grizzly in places so in my eyes more suitable for slightly older children, maybe aged over 7! Having said that, they are quite light-hearted – even though some of the children’s fates can be a little grizzly!

Learn to read with the Alphablocks : Letter Teams – review and giveaway!

Being a primary school teacher I am more than familiar with helping children learn to read – in fact, that is my everyday job in reception class! We have just introduced a new phonics scheme at school to teach the letter sounds which is fab… and I am pleased to say that the Alphablocks fit in beautifully, pronouncing the pure sounds correctly to help children learn even more.

If you are not familiar with them, The Alphablocks are 26 living letters who fell out of the sky and discover that if they hold hands and make a word, it comes to life. When words are magic and anything is possible, it’s adventure, songs and games all the way! And when you are learning to read, adventures, songs and games make learning fun – just as it should be!

I LOVE the Alphablocks, and find the episodes GREAT for a wet playtime to fill 10 minutes on the carpet! So when we were asked if we would like to take a look at a copy of the new Learn to read with the Alphablocks : Volume 3 Letter Teams, I couldn’t resist! Not only were the Alphablocks going to help with the individual pure sounds represented by one letter, now they are going one step further to introduce and reinforce pure sounds that are represented by two letters, or letter teams as they are called here!
