Christmas fun for little fingers – Marshmallow Snowmen Lollies!

Every year, for the school Christmas fair, I like to get creative with my class  – and this year was no exception! With a little ‘pinspiration’ I can across an idea involving white chocolate and marshmallows to make snowmen lollies, so this weekend had some fun with the boys testing and making prototypes!

Snowman ingredientsTo make the lollies we used marshmallows, white chocolate, smarties and writing icing.

We started by threading 3 marshmallows onto a wooden skewer. For the ‘real’ thing I am going to use lollipop sticks to make them safer, but they haven’t arrived yet!!!

Coating in chocolateThe white chocolate was melted in the microwave for a minute or two, then drizzled over the marshmallows using a spoon to ensure an even coating. We then laid them on some greaseproof paper.

adding smartiesWhilst the chocolate was still wet we added the smarties as buttons on the snowmen, then left them to set for a little while before making the faces!

marshmallow snowmenSeeing as these were prototypes we then had a bit of a play with the faces, just with bits we had in the cupboard, finding things for the eyes, nose and mouth. I think it was decided we would eventually use chocolate drops for the eyes, red writing icing for the nose, then get some black writing icing to make ‘coal-like’ dots for the mouth! Either way, they looked great (and tasted even better!)

If you decide to have a go, I’d love to see your creations! Enjoy xXx
